A change of theme is is order. I have reached a time in my life when I know my wisdom might be better used in a new role. I have therefore decided to announce, dear readers, that I am retiring from work in the field and am shifting to develop my work as a consultant. I know you will appreciate that the decision was tough, considering my prowess and intellect were so highly attuned, but I can assure you that my heart is telling me it’s time. My hips are telling me it’s time, too, but that’s another story.

I will be taking calls on a semi-regular basis. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions regarding herding, nipping at ankles, chasing squirrels, and the like. I also have some fine recommendations on how to extend one’s evening walk, how to get more treats from a reluctant daddy, and how to ignore one’s pestering sister in order to sleep the afternoon away.

As a consultant, I am available to help you with any challenge or difficulty you may be facing at this juncture in your life. I may just look at you awhile, and you can think I’m listening intently, yet experience has proven that you’ll eventually figure out what to do. You’ll think somehow that I had something to do with the solution. Very well. They do say that the job of a consultant is more about listening than anything else… or providing the illusion of listening. I can do that.

I do hope you enjoy my new theme. Thanks to belle ancell for the delicious photo. I had been yearning for a new headshot for some time.

Love to one and all.

Academy

Academy began the writing trend in her family with her touching blog, "Academy The Border Collie: Wisdom from a faithful dog". After her passing in 2015, many of her favourite posts provided the content for Stick And Squirrel, the online magazine for dogs. Some previously unpublished works from this dear girl are yet to be shared.

    • Thank you, dear Jorge. You must visit more often, now that my schedule has settled down somewhat. Or a lot. In fact, you may have to wake me up. But I would be thrilled to see you!

    • I would be honoured to share my secrets with you, Breck and Oreo. First, I’d recommend you practice your “hopeful” face. Then tilt your head ever so slightly, all the while gazing into the eyes of whoever has the good stuff. Works every time.
